Prickly Lovers Club Vol.III: Meet Yağmur

ree

Some friendships begin quietly and deepen with time, like sun-warmed afternoons that stretch long into evening. Yağmur is one of those friends for us.

The founder of Local Makers and The North Fox, she has been a beloved presence since our earliest days — a gentle advocate for small businesses, a fellow believer in handmade stories, and someone who knows the art of savoring a season with all her senses.

In this edition of the Prickly Pears Lovers Club, we slow down with Yağmur — a grounded Taurus soul who greets summer not with a rush, but with a deep breath. She shares the rituals that anchor her, the landscapes that call her, and the towel she never travels without.

What does summer mean to you?

“For me, summer isn’t about doing more, it’s about loosening my grip,” Yağmur smiles. “I wake later, let my skin taste the sun, my hair catch the salt. There’s jasmine in the night air and always sunscreen on my shoulders. I swap heavy plans for light, breathable days. No 5 a.m. alarms — just a gentle rhythm where time feels soft and generous.”

Her words echo what we’ve always loved about slow living: the freedom to honor what feels good, not what looks productive.

What rituals anchor your summer days?

“I’ve never been a sunrise person, I’m a golden-hour girl through and through.”

Her ritual unfolds like a love letter to late summer: a slow wake-up, a long stretch by an open window, a fruit plate for breakfast. Sometimes a late-morning swim, sometimes a sunset dip when the water shimmers.

“I keep iced herbal tea on hand all summer — sage or mint-lemon, always,” she adds. “And at dusk, I take a short walk, breathe in the jasmine, and write a few honest lines in my journal. It’s simple, but it keeps me rooted.”

We can almost hear the cicadas as she speaks — the hum of a life lived deliberately.

Where do you wander when you long for a summer escape?

“The Greek islands,” Yağmur says without hesitation. “There’s nothing like stepping off a windy ferry, seeing blue-white harbors, and finding a cove you can only reach by a goat path.”

Her love for slow, sensory travel is evident. Across the sea, she’s equally charmed by Puglia: olive groves stretching to the horizon, pale limestone houses, and long lunches that become the day’s only plan. “It’s the perfect balance of sun, sea, and culture. Those two places hold my heart.”

Which Prickly Pears towel has become your summer companion—and why?

The red Lütfi - Coral has been with me everywhere lately,” she says. “It’s fast-drying, sheds sand like magic, soft enough for an impromptu nap, and bold enough to spot in a crowd. I’ve worn it as a pareo, laid it out for picnics — it does everything. Amber is a close second.”

When and where did you last travel with it?

Her answer paints a scene we’d all like to step into:

“A quiet Greek-island cove, late afternoon. I spread LÜTFİ over a warm rock, swam until my shoulders hummed, and then sipped iced sage tea while the cicadas kept rhythm. It was one of those moments that lives in your body long after you leave.”

If you had to describe this towel in 3 words?

“Bold. Quick-dry. Wander-ready.”

Listening to Yağmur, we’re reminded of why we began Prickly Pears: to create pieces that become part of a life well-lived. Her rituals feel like an invitation — to savor what’s in front of us, to choose softness over speed, to let a towel carry not just utility, but memory.

To Yağmur, and to all our Prickly Pears lovers: may your summer linger a little longer, your days feel wide and golden, and your handwoven pieces travel with you wherever you find your joy.

With love,
